It’s been a tumultuous year in 2022, one that we’ll remember for a long time.

Overall, this year has been a difficult one, but it has also been a year of growth and learning. We’ve noticed that we must come together to make a positive change, and that we have the power to make a difference. We’ve also seen that even in the darkest of times, there is hope.

For me, this year was one of the most interesting ones. I call it my “midlife opportunity” year, since there were a LOT of changes, and quoting a famous buddhist, “The chinese use the same word for Crisis as they do Opportunity”, and the word “Crisitunity” was already taken (D’OH!).

In this new year, as we begin a new chapter, I would like to share some lessons I learned that I wish to maintain as guiding principles for living. In keeping with the year, they are 23 for 2023.

  1. Learning to roll with the punches and be flexible in the face of uncertainty.
  2. The significance of close bonds in our happiness and success.
  3. The beneficial effects of an optimistic outlook on life.
  4. Gains from aiming high and trying to achieve success.
  5. The value of prioritizing one’s own needs and making time for self-care.
  6. The benefits of expanding one’s knowledge and working to better oneself.
  7. Maintaining a healthy work-life, personal-life, and interest-life balance.
  8. The merits of sticking with a goal despite setbacks.
  9. The value of never giving up on our ambitions.
  10. The significance of open lines of communication in fostering healthy relationships.
  11. How mindfulness and attention to the here and now is one of the keys for balance.
  12. The positive effects of practicing mindfulness and thankfulness on one’s well-being.
  13. The strength that may be gained through releasing resentment and forgiving an offense.
  14. The importance of maintaining a growth mindset and being willing to try new things.
  15. The value of having empathy and sympathy for others around you.
  16. Understanding the value of establishing limits.
  17. Recognizing the value of being genuine and honest.
  18. The significance of maintaining an optimistic outlook on life.
  19. How personal responsibility and accountability keeps you on the right path.
  20. The importance of accepting and welcoming people from all walks of life.
  21. Having the ability to overcome adversity and being resilient.
  22. The significance of knowing oneself to your progress and maturation.
  23. How important it is to keep challenging ourselves and breaking out of routines.

It is my wish that you all have a wonderful year, and as for myself, I will take action rather than just make wishes.

Happy 2023!
